Sample Itinerary for Italy

Below is the itinerary for our study abroad program in Rome, Italy. You can expect a similar itinerary for our future programs in Rome, although dates and excursions may change.

Remember--in addition to the sites and excursions listed below, you'll see many more attractions and landmarks in field trips during your summer classes! You'll have two free weekends to travel and do anything else you'd like on your own.

Week 1:	Arrive in Rome Move into your shared furnished apartment. Your roommates will be other WSU students traveling with First-Generation Abroad. Meet the on-site study abroad staff and attend orientation. Learn about cultural differences, managing your money/budget, and local resources that will make your time in Rome feel like home. Go on a guided walking tour of Rome, and learn more about your new neighborhood. St. Peter's Dome climb. Take a crash course in Italian language. Learn enough to help you navigate your new home for the next month (or at least order a cappuccino!).
Week 2:	Classes start! You'll earn six credits over the next month. Your first class is in the mornings from 9 AM to 12 PM. Your next class is in the afternoons from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Classes are Monday through Thursday only. Take a free guided tour of the Vatican Museums. Most popular souvenir here? A rosary! Participate in a guided tour of Forum and Colosseum. Participate in a pasta-making class.
Week 3:	Classes continues. Participate in a required volunteer activity which will help you learn more about your new home community. The on-site study abroad staff will help you find the perfect service project based on your interests, career path, and/or major. You can volunteer alone or with a group! Pack for an overnight trip to Campania (2 days/1 night). This excursion is at no extra-charge for you. While in Campania, you'll take visit the famous island of Capri, tour the grounds of Pompeii, and probably do some shopping in Sorrento, which is known for limoncello!
Week 4:	Classes Continue Participate in a pottery class, and take home your finished product as a souvenir. Participate in a conversation-exchange with local Italian college students. These "intercambios" are an easy way to make new friends with locals. 3-day weekend to explore on your own!
Week 5:	Classes end this week with final exams. Do a good job! These classes will transfer back to WSU as UCORE or elective credits! Attend the re-entry and career workshop to help you translate your experience abroad on your resume and in the workforce. Purchase last-minute souvenirs and pack up your apartment. Find a way to fit everything back into your suitcase! Say farewell to the on-site team at a free farewell dinner. Savor your last bites of world-famous Italian cuisine! Fly back to the States or wherever your next destination may lead you!

Sample Itinerary for Spain

Below is the itinerary for our study abroad program in Seville, Spain. You can expect a similar itinerary for our future programs in Seville, although dates and excursions may change.

Week 1:	Arrive in Seville Move into your shared furnished apartment. Your roommates will be other WSU students traveling with First-Generation Abroad. Meet the on-site study abroad staff and attend orientation. Learn about cultural differences, managing your money/budget, and local resources that will make your time in Seville feel like home. Go on a bike tour of Seville. See its major sites and landmarks, and learn more about your new neighborhood. Take a crash course in Spanish language. Learn enough to help you navigate your new home for the next month (or at least enough to order tapas!).
Week 2:	Classes start! You'll earn six credits over the next month. Your first class is in the mornings from 9 AM to 11:00 AM. Enjoy a quick coffee break because your next class is from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Classes are Monday through Thursday only. Every Tuesday, enjoy breakfast with the on-site study abroad staff. Learn more about what it's like to live in Seville. Visit the famous Alcazar cathedral. This local excursion is at no extra cost for you!
Week 3:	Classes continues. Participate in a required volunteer activity which will help you learn more about your new home community. The on-site study abroad staff will help you find the perfect service project based on your interests, career path, and/or major. You can volunteer alone or with a group! Pack for an overnight excursion to Lisbon, Portugal (3 days/2nights)
Week 4:	Classes Continue Participate in a conversation-exchange with local Spanish college students. These "intercambios" are scheduled weekly, and will be an easy way to make new friends with locals. Be sure to get tips on where to find the most affordable tapas in town! Attend a free flamenco class! You'll learn the history of this famous music and dance style, and get to try your hand at some of the moves. Learn how to make traditional tapas! Tapas are small appetizers or snacks that can be quite filling. You'll receive a free lesson on how to prepare these hot and cold dishes, and you'll eat a fair share, too!
Week 5:	Classes end this week with final exams. Do a good job! These classes will transfer back to WSU as UCORE or elective credits! Purchase last-minute souvenirs and pack up your apartment. Find a way to fit everything back in your suitcase! Say farewell to the on-site team at a free farewell dinner. Eat your favorite tapas one last time! Fly back to the States or wherever your next destination may lead you!
